Lambda Theta Alpha
Quick Facts
01
The first and largest Latina sorority in the country.
LTA was founded on December 1, 1975 at Kean University in Union, New Jersey.
As of Spring 2015, there are 153 chapters of Lambda Theta Alpha across the country.

Unity, Love, and Respect
The principles of unity, love, and respect guide our sisterhood. We believe that as sisters, we should spread these principles throughout the world, using them to make a difference.
02
03
Lambda Theta Alpha is not an exclusionary organization.
Lambda Ladies pride themselves on being a part of a sisterhood that is "Latin by tradition, not by definition." We welcome women of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and demographics.
17 Founding Mothers
Our organization was started by 17 lovely ladies who decided to come together and form a support group for women pursuing higher education.
05
06
Academic excellence as a pillar.
LTA was founded as an academic sorority, making education a primary goal and function within the organization. Our chapter, along with other chapters in the nation, host educational workshops for sisters and their university communities.
Unique Tradition
Sisters participate in a specific tradition unique to LTA called saluting. This is where sisters stand in a line and recite "poetry in motion" with synchronized movements. This tradition symbolizes unity and respect.
